Ghee, Oil and Havan Quantities

Ghee for diyas and havan

200 g is the total ghee included in this kit. Reserve the havan amount before filling diyas. For panchamrit, use ghee suitable for eating.

Sesame oil for diyas

The kit includes 150 ml sesame oil, or til tel. Arrange extra oil for more diyas or longer burning times. Buy mustard oil separately if your family puja requires it.

Wood and samagri for havan

You get 1 kg havan samagri and 250 g samidha (हवन समिधा). Samidha fuels the fire in the havan kund (हवन कुंड). Havan samagri is added during ahuti (आहुति).

Ask your pandit ji how much wood and ghee your havan needs. Add extra items from our havan samagri collection if required.

Bhog and Panchamrit for Puja

Panchmeva and mishri are 50 g each. Arrange fruit and sweets for bhog (भोग) and prasad (प्रसाद). Plan portions for the people attending your puja.

Panchamrit (पंचामृत) contains milk, curd, honey, sugar and ghee. Arrange fresh milk and curd if preparing it for puja. Check that the ghee and honey are suitable for eating.

The kit includes 1 coconut. Arrange another if one will remain on the kalash during puja and you need coconut for prasad.

Flowers, Leaves and Puja Utensils

Flowers, leaves and bhog

• Flowers and garlands.
• Durva grass (दूर्वा / दूब) for Ganesh Ji.
• Mango leaves for kalash puja, if part of your family tradition.
• Paan leaves for the paan-and-supari puja step.
• Kheel and batasha (खील और बताशे), if part of your family tradition.

Diyas and puja utensils (पूजा के बर्तन)

• Chowki (चौकी) and sitting mat.
• Lakshmi-Ganesh murtis (मूर्तियाँ) or a photo.
• Diyas, dhoop holder and camphor holder.
• Puja thali, small bowls, water vessel and spoons.
• Clean water and a coin for kalash puja, if required.
• Havan kund and spoon, if performing havan.
• Account books and a pen for Bahi Khata Puja (बही खाता पूजन), if performed.
